Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do we share files?
I predominantly use WeTransfer for audio & large script files, Dropbox, and G-Suite.
-
How do you tend to communicate?
I have found the best methods are either via Slack, MS Teams, email, or Whatsapp – or a combination of these. In terms of frequency, this is something we can agree on, depending on the project and level of support. But in general, I value clear and frequent communication ant can dial it up or down to give you total confidence.

I might want to work with you on holiday cover. What is the best way to go about booking you for this?
I’d love to support you during your holiday. As I mentioned, if we have never worked together before, reach out with as much notice as you can – three weeks is ideal. This is just so I can learn your systems and ensure everything is set up effectively. If we’ve worked together before, please still reach out with as much notice as possible! This is to ensure I can put aside adequate time for you.

How long does onboarding & getting up to speed on processes usually take?
I am very well-versed in the production workflow for both in-house publisher and studio, both studio read and home narration. So, I am confident that I can leap into action quickly here. All studios/publishers have slightly different processes, though, so it would be a case of understanding your bespoke processes. As a general rule, 3-4 weeks working 5-10 hours per week is adequate.
-
I want to work with you on a retainer – how will I know if I need 10 hours, 15 hours, etc?
I recommend that we go ad-hoc for the two months to gauge the workload. It may be that you may prefer it, especially if your workload fluctuates by the month. Retainers allow you to budget monthly without surprise costs, and they also guarantee the hours. From working with previous clients, I have built up a pretty good understanding of how long things take – from straight-forward castings to full-cast narrations. Let me know what the tasks are, and I can give you a ballpark hour count.
-
How do you track your hours?
I use Toggl to track hours. When working with audiobooks, I track both by total hours spent, but also by the title. This means I can either invoice per title or per total hours, depending on preference and accounting style.
-
Do you work confidentially?
Of course, I can offer 100% confidential support – just let me know what your requirements are around this and I’d be happy to accommodate.
-
What makes you different?
I’m fortunate to have experience both in-house at an audiobook publisher, and in-studio with production companies. I understand all production workflows well and, more specifically, the pain points and pressures on both sides. It means I understand clients’ timelines and can accurately cater to their needs. Plus, I have a great bank of voice actors and voice agents I know really well – very helpful for collaboration!

I'm curious to see if you could help - but I'm not sure what I need help with.
Of course! I’m just an email or phone call away. Please reach out, and we can set up a relaxed 30-minute chat.
